[Strapfkernerators Requiem]
The
Requiem
In the traditional Catholic Mass of the Requiem, images of death and of God are hauntingly envisioned in the Latin text. Many composers have made their musical contributions to the theme; Mozart and Verdi being possibly the most well-known of the group.

Strapfkernerators Requiem magnificently crafts a haunting scene of Death, the pains of hell, and the joys of heaven in their own unique modern industrial way. Traditional orchestras and choirs lead way to a haunting soundscape of techno-trash rock and sampled sounds in an amalgamation that forces the listener to visualize the subject, whether they want to or not.

Originally written by Norwegian composers/performers Aksel Hagen Tjora and Oivind Klungseth Zahlsen as a tribute to victims of Human Rights Abuse, Strapfkernerators Requiem made its stage debut at the International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFIT) in 1994. More recently, the Trip Records crew traveled to Norway to record the classical portions of the piece in the medieval-era Byneset Church. Subsequent recordings are taking place in Norway and the U.S. so that Trip will soon be able to bring this magnificently haunting musical construction to the world.
