Sibilance is an audio magazine, edited and compiled by the folks at Trip Records and Baby Rhino Press. It is a forum for experimentation: in the musical, literary and sonic realms, with a bias toward queer-themed content. Each issue is jammed with nearly 60-minutes of sonic slatherings, lipid-free litera, and unpretentious prose - all from writers, performers and producers of interesting and unadulterated inspiration.
Works appearing on Sibilance consist primarily of unsolicited contributions, which have been selected by the editors for their musical or lyrical acumen, and are found to be of interest due to socially poignant message, naked musical craft, or are too damn amusing to be passed up. This periodical audiozine was conceived out of the philosophy that much music, spoken word, and soundscape works go unheard, because records of such material are considered by the mainstream music industry to be unworthy of our music-buying public. Trip and Baby Rhino, however, believe otherwise, and think that there are many creative individuals out there who have no outlet for their brilliance, and have thus created Sibilance as a conduit for such artists. In addition, Sibilance is extremely accessible to a broader listening audience at a list retail price of $5, positioning this product more like a magazine than a record. Sibilance is edited by Trip recording artist and producer Boffo Santana-Jones, and Baby Rhino Press' resident axe-grinder Dan-E Boy.
