	This debut album from altrock whiz kid Christian Johnson, released February 14, 1996, is a collection of penetrating, intelligent and radio-ready rock and roll. The songs range from guitar-heavy epic poetry to unrepentantly sentimental ballads to purely fun, fist-pumping anthems -- all unified by Johnson's arresting baritone and poignant lyrics. Johnson romps, stomps, screams, sighs and all the times shines on this first record of what promises to be an inspired and artistically rich career. "BABY" grabs at the foibles and phantoms of everyday life, first analyzing, then dissecting, then slashing... a rock/pop fist clenching a razor-sharp lyrical edge. It is this heady formula of stark pop craftiness and poignant, image-rich verse that courses throughout "King Baby," energizing Johnson's emotional tales of personal and social triumph and tragedy.
