Works appearing on Sibilance consist primarily of unsolicited contributions, which have been selected by the editors for their musical or lyrical acumen, and are found to be of interest due to their socially poignant message, naked compositional craft, or are too damn amusing to be passed up. Issue #1, with nearly 60-minutes of sonic slatherings, lipid-free litera, and unpretentious prose, features works by artists in Norway, Japan, and from across the United States.
This periodical audiozine was conceived out of the philosophy that much music, spoken word, and soundscape works go unheard, because records of such material are considered by many larger record labels to have too small an audience in the record-buying public. Trip and Baby Rhino, however, believe otherwise, and think that there are many creative individuals out there who have no outlet for their brilliance, and have thus created Sibilance as a conduit for such artists, at a price which encourages music-buyers to "take a chance" and explore new artists and material, and broaden acceptance of experimental works.
Trip Records is a nationally distributed New York based independent label dedicated to the support and release of hard-hitting and exquisite Queer music and musical contortionists of all disciplines.
Baby Rhino Press known primarily for its flagship 'zine "Queer Nasty," is a small-press publisher, dedicated to finding and presenting unexplored and oft-ignored views and ideas.
